WHAT IS WRITE CLUB?

This is a call to those who feel that something essential is being missed here culturally. Who know that the most important and inspiring stories aren’t trending, they’re happening quietly, right now, in studios, kitchens, warehouses, living rooms, and around the corner in your community. 

WRITE CLUB is where we train our eye, sharpen our voice, and build a shared language for a generation that refuses to be underserved and misrepresented.

Publications in Austin have abandoned the values that made this city what it is today, putting profit over people, we have monetized peoples attention leaving the majority of us feeling disconnected and underwhelmed. Is this the best we can do?

It is time that Austin introduces a publication that offers true perspective and transparency to the evolving landscape that is Austin, TX. Influencer culture and "Best-Of" lists don't appeal to everyone, and its time we bring back storytelling that resonates with people on a different level.

WRITE CLUB is about developing our craft, it’s about opening doors, not gatekeeping them, and coming together to figure out how we want our generation to be received. If we are calculated or loud enough there will be no denying our impact on our scene.

Austin, TX is ready for us, there is no better landscape for this sort of authority, and the time to act is right now.

Why are you here?

WRITE CLUB is about practice, perspective, and contribution to our culture.

Not just shooters, storytellers, photo journalists.

  • You see light, tension, space, and you are deeply inspired by details most would miss

  • Documentary-minded. Studio-curious. Street-aware

PHOTOGRAPHERS

You’re embedded.

  • You know scenes, subcultures, studios, and communities before they surface online

  • You understand context and why it matters

CULTURAL Correspondents

HOW DO I JOIN?

Every six weeks we meet for a culture-focused discussion and debrief. You’ll learn basic journalism: story structure, reporting, and editorial judgment, and get clearer and more confident in your writing.

We’ll suggest story ideas, and you can publish on ONO’s online blog with editorial help. We will be there with you every step of the way.

Each cycle you may submit 1-2 pieces to the Editor-in-Chief, so the time commitment is very casual.

If you stand out, you can get bigger assignments, have your stories printed in ONO Magazine, or even qualify for paid roles and travel opportunities.

All you need for the workshop is a pen, notepad, and an open mind. The less screens the better.
